Thailand is a top bucket-list destination for travelers, and it is easy to see why. With dazzling turquoise waters, mountains that rise above the clouds, hidden temples, and delicious food, there is so much to love about Thailand. Here you can travel to Bangkok – Thailand’s busiest city, escape to a beautiful island, and admire Thailand’s most stunning temples. Thailand’s cheap prices make it easy to travel here on a budget, but there are also options to travel luxuriously.
I have always wanted to travel to Thailand. Thai food is my favorite in the world, the beaches look incredible, there are ancient ruins all over the place, and to top it off, you can get up close with elephants.
Ahhh…we finally made it to the beautiful beaches of Thailand. Tyler and Kara have been looking forward to this for so long, our first real beach destination in almost six months of travel. Some pure fun in the sun has been long overdue for these two kiddos and we arrived just in time for Christmas.
We splurged on our hotel, not something we typically do. But it was Christmas and we stayed at more than our fair share of undesirable places in India to save up the money to do this. Our home for nine nights was the brand new Ibis Styles in Ao Nang, Thailand. We were a fifteen minute walk from the beach but we had a swimming pool which Tyler and Kara used every chance they had.
Krabi, Thailand is one of the world?s best places to learn how to rock climb. Our family has always had an interest in rock climbing but our only real experience so far was a few climbs up the rock wall at our local gym. While in Krabi, rock climbing was at the top of our list for things to do.
As we traveled north from Bangkok to Chiang Mai we paid a visit to two of Thailand’s most popular historical sites, Ayutthaya and Sukhothai. Both are UNESCO World Heritage Sites and are important places in Thai history. Tyler and Kara honestly weren’t thrilled about touring more ruins and temples, but here they got to explore by bicycle, one of our favorite activities.
Chiang Mai, located in the northern part of Thailand, is a popular destination for jungle trekking, getting up close with elephants, visiting hill tribes, and so much more. Like Krabi, there are so many things to do here…tons of activities to keep an active family busy. Our family spent five very busy days here and we composed a list of our ten favorite things we did while in Chiang Mai.
