Yangon

Mandalay has the international name recognition and Nay Pyi Taw is the administrative – and infamously deserted – capital of Myanmar. But, in truth, all roads lead to the country’s commercial hub and most outward looking city, Yangon.

Myanmar’s largest city and former capital, Yangon is tantalizingly distinct – a rich tonic of teahouses, golden-hued stupas and artist studios to enliven and entertain even the fussiest of travelers, and the most frugal too.

While Yangon holds a variety of well-established cultural highlights, most visitors don’t think to linger and explore the greater city area, home to a diverse array of day-long adventures.
